Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Shift Information

12-hour evening shifts (10:45 PM - 11:15 PM and/or 2:45 PM - 3:15 AM).

Minimum Years of Experience

2 years of nursing experience required.

Certifications/Requirements

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Valid National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Position Summary

This role involves providing professional nursing care based on current nursing knowledge, adhering to the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) standards. Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, formulating and updating the plan of care, implementing nursing interventions, and evaluating patient care outcomes across all age groups from neonates to geriatrics. The position may require additional duties during community events affecting Emergency Department patient volumes.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Triages patients entering the emergency care system, determining care priorities based on physical and psycho-social needs, and influencing factors regarding patient flow.
• Develops and implements ongoing care plans based on continuous assessment, ensuring the availability and functionality of necessary supplies and equipment.
• Recognizes changes in patient health status and directs respective care to ensure patient safety.
• Documents and responds to patient reactions to interventions, aiming to provide competent medical care.
• Implements health education for patients and their families, providing information before treatment initiation, and ensuring understanding of discharge instructions.

Non-Essential Functions

• Performs related and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
