Job Description Starting Date: Aug 3, 2026 Job Title: Aide Wage/Hour Status: Non‑Exempt Job Role: Bilingual – Spanish or Vietnamese Funding Source: Local Pay Grade: PR 2 Department/School: Campus Assigned Function: Educational Support Reports to: Campus Principal HR Date Approved: January 2009 HR Date Revised: May 2024 Summary: Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities. Support the bilingual teacher in addressing students’ physical, instructional, and social needs, including the preparation and management of classroom activities and routines. Assist with the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEP), 504 Plans, and Response to Intervention (RTI) accommodations. Model KISD core organizational beliefs and values; perform duties effectively and efficiently to support high student achievement. Provide program support and service delivery; communicate effectively within and across teams and participate in cross‑functional work groups. Maintain a commitment to the District mission; model District expectations through personal leadership and actively support the efforts of others to achieve District goals. Major Responsibilities and Duties Instructional Support Provide instruction to students under the direction of a teacher; work with individual students or small groups. Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays. Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments. Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom. Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment. Help the teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers. Student Management Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty. Make the teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students. Other Attend and participate in faculty meetings and special events and serve on staff committees as required. Ensure that all interactions with students, District personnel, and parents are supportive, courteous, and respectful. Policy, Reports, and Law Maintain confidentiality. Develop and maintain systems for retrieval of information in support of all programs; compile, maintain, file, and secure all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents. Pursue professional development activities for self and assigned staff; ensure alignment with District goals and initiatives and current professional research. Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives. Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators. Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education/Certification High school diploma or GED certificate. Have met formal academic assessment or have completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher learning. Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate (required for Title‑funded and Title‑campus positions). Associate degree or two years of study at an institution of higher learning required for positions funded by Title monies or at campus‑wide Title campuses. Experience Experience working with children. Experience in an educational environment (preferred). Must be conversationally proficient in the assigned foreign language. Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics. Ability to communicate effectively in the assigned language. Ability to work well with children. Skill in working with a variety of students in varied situations. Ability to be self‑motivated and self‑directed. Ability to read; understand, and follow detailed written and verbal instructions. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one situations. Supervisory Responsibilities None Physical Demands Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals. Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds). Environment: Work is completed on‑site at the assigned school or building; regular exposure to noise and computer monitors. No remote work. Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; prolonged or irregular hours.
