Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Traction Power Engineer to join our team in Philadelphia, PA. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the design, analysis of DC or AC traction power systems for railways, light rail transit (LRT), or other electrified transportation networks. The candidate will work closely with experienced engineers and contribute to real-world projects, gaining practical knowledge in a dynamic and challenging environment.Responsibilities:Assist Management in the design and analysis of traction power distribution systems, including substations, overhead catenary systems (OCS), and third rail systemsSupport the development of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation).Perform calculations related to voltage drop, current flow, and power system performanceAssist in the preparation of technical reports, specifications, and construction documentsConduct field inspections and site visits to gather data and observe construction activitiesAssist in the testing and commissioning of traction power equipmentAssist in the preparation of as-built drawings and documentationPerform other duties as assigned by the supervisorCollaborate with other engineering disciplines and project stakeholdersEnsure compliance with relevant industry standards and codes (e.g., NESC, IEEE)Maintain accurate project records and documentationQualificationsMinimum RequirementsBA/BS in Electrical Engineering or closely related field + 8 years relevant experienceor demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationProfessional Engineer LicenseExperiencewith Traction Power Load Flow Software (Etrax, Openpowernet, Train)Experience with power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM PowerTools).Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting softwareExperience with SEPTA, Amtrak, WMATA, NJ Transit, PATH and other rail clients across the nationPreferred Qualifications10 years work experience in performing Traction Power Design and Simulation projectsProject Management Professional(PMP) LicenseThorough understanding of electrical power systems and circuit analysis and electrical theoryFamiliarity with AC and DC power conceptsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specificationsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies.Desire to work in a fast-paced dynamic work environment.Ability to work independently and as part of a teamAdditional InformationWe are interested in every qualified candidate eligible to work in the United States.
