Litigation Legal Assistant (Chicago)

Our client, a law firm in Downtown Chicago, is searching for a Litigation Legal Assistant. This role will serve as a key support function for the attorneys and litigation team as a whole. This is an amazing opportunity for an established legal assistant looking to join a dynamic and growing team with an entrepreneurial and customer service mindset.

This is a hybrid position with 3 days in office per week.

Responsibilities:

1. Revise and file routine legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and briefs within document management systems.
2. Collaborate on trial preparation and the creation of discovery requests and trial binders.
3. Ensure case deadlines are documented and met via workflow management systems.
4. Submit attorney’s billable hours and review for compliance with firm guidelines and actual services rendered.
5. Manage attorney calendars including scheduling meetings, requesting meeting rooms, and booking travel/lodging.
6. Communicate often confidential information to internal and external stakeholders with a high level of customer service.
7. Proactively support the legal and administrative teams as needed.

Requirements:

1. 3+ years of litigation experience required, MDL or class action experience preferred.
2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required, InTapp, Chrome River, and/or I Manage preferred.
3. Proven ability to manage dynamic priorities with a high level of detail in a fast-paced environment.
4. A customer service work ethic coupled with outstanding communication skills.
5. A high level of professionalism and discretion, particularly in the handling of confidential materials.
