Transit Bus Driver

Transit Bus OperatorPerforms skilled work in the operation of passenger buses, vans, and paratransit vans for a public transit system.Essential Job Functions:Operates transit buses, vans on fixed routes, door-to-door routes, and others as assigned.Loads and unloads passengers; loads, properly secures, and unloads wheelchair passengers.Observes all state and federal laws for safe operation of vehicles.Performs pre-trip walk-around of assigned vehicle.Fuels and cleans interior of vehicle; reports any vehicle problems to supervisor and writes up repair order at beginning and end of shift.Participates in training activities and safety/staff meetings.Prepares driver statistical and performance reports.Observes proper fare collection procedures.Interacts with public respectfully and professionally.Assists elderly and disabled passengers.Maintains proper communication with dispatch concerning stops.May assist in training new drivers; performs related work as required.Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.Job DescriptionQualifications: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year operating comparable class vehicles (transit bus, school bus, paratransit van, etc.) including or supplemented by work involving public contact; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (Class B with "P" endorsement) and a clean driving record. Subject to pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.Special Requirements: All applicants are subject to pre-employment drug testing; individual in this position will be subject to random drug & alcohol testing.Days & Hours: Monday-Saturday, Days & Hours Vary, No Sundays
