The PreOp team works in a fast-paced environment, caring for an average of 90-135 patients each day. We deliver individualized care for inpatients and outpatients, pediatric and adults, with a collaborative, interdisciplinary team approach. We provide preop care for patients scheduled to have General, GYN, Neuro, ENT, GYN Oncology, Ortho, Spine, Urology, Endoscopy and various medical specialties. Our caring environment includes a focus on family-centered care. We always strive to provide excellent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. The nurses in PreOp are responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care, utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting, while striving to uphold our mission and values centered in our Carolina Care initiative.

Responsibilities include assessment, education, evaluation, implementation, leadership, planning, and research.

Education Requirements: Graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing. If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled in an accredited program within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date. Licensure/Certification Requirements: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification For positions at magnet hospitals, professional certification relevant to the practice area and on the ANCC Magnet approved list is required within the probationary period of employment. Professional Experience Requirements: One (1) year of nursing experience.
