The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for an Aircraft Avionics Technician (WG‑2604‑11) to join the team at the 12th Maintenance Group, Joint Base San Antonio – Randolph, Texas. In this role you will inspect, repair, maintain, modify, test, calibrate, align and adjust avionics and electrical systems on associated T‑7 aircraft. Hourly wage range for a WG‑11 position at Joint Base San Antonio – Randolph: $33.97 – $39.64 per hour. AFCS BENEFITS 11 Federal Holidays each year 13 sick leave days earned per year (accumulative) 13‑26 days of paid vacation per year based on length of employment No waiting period to qualify for you and your family (Health Insurance) Immediate coverage by the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) Basic Benefits Plan Social Security Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), similar to a 401(k) – automatic 1% agency contributions and up to 5% matching DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Test and troubleshoot various components and assemblies of electronic equipment such as radio and radar receivers and transmitters; perform functional tests to isolate faults in avionic electronics and electromechanical systems and their associated sub‑assemblies. Maintain aircraft electrical systems, instruments, automatic flight controls, inertial and standard navigation, and communication systems. Maintain radio system equipment such as high‑frequency (HF), very high‑frequency (VHF), and ultra‑high‑frequency (UHF) radios, secure voice auxiliary components, transponders and radar systems. Maintain systems such as enhanced station‑keeping equipment (ESKE), tactical airborne navigation (TACAN), Automatic Direction Finding (ADF), autopilot, stability augmentation, all‑weather landing systems (AWLS), and fuel savings advisory systems (FSAS). REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION US citizenship is required. This is a drug‑testing position. The employee is subject to random drug testing. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance. Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, crawl and stand for prolonged periods on concrete or metal surfaces. Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds; occasionally may lift and carry items that weigh up to 50 pounds with mechanical lifting devices or with assistance from other workers.
