Pediatric Respiratory Therapist - Part-time Night Shift - Neenah

Job Overview Respiratory Care Specialist position for the Neonatal, Pediatric and Adult Transport Team at Children’s Wisconsin – Fox Valley. Shift: .6 or .75 Night shift, every 3rd weekend. Benefits include Sign‑on bonus, Night shift bonus and Shift differential. Job Summary Applies scientific knowledge, technical expertise and theory to practical clinical problems and is often required to exercise clinical judgment. Provides therapeutic, diagnostic, consultative and supportive services to neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients and their families. Actively participates in resuscitative and emergent situations and provides patient care in a mobile environment to high‑risk patients being transported to or from Children’s Wisconsin–Fox Valley via ground transportation. Essential Functions Respiratory Care Process – Initiates, performs and maintains respiratory care competencies. Determines techniques for ensuring optimal patient care, performs billing, handles emergent situations, and performs moderate complexity testing. Education / Discharge Planning – Participates in the discharge process, provides and documents education to patients and families, assists in the development and validation of patient care standards. Communication / Collaboration – Acts as a team member, collaborates with healthcare team, communicates effectively, keeps supervisor apprised, and seeks assistance from leadership when needed. Professional Development – Maintains departmental responsibilities, attends educational offerings, identifies annual goals and keeps current with respiratory care trends. Quality Improvement – Participates in new product/procedure evaluation, unit improvement activities, and development of transport departmental operations, policies and procedures. Transport – Facilitates ground transport process, obtains patient history, communicates with medical control, coordinates acceptance, arranges mode of transport, and ensures optimal patient care during transport. Education & Experience Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy required. 1+ years of critical care experience in neonatal, pediatric, or adult ICU preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Current employees who graduated before Jan12005 grandfathered with current CRT credential. Neonatal Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialist preferred. Basic personal computer skills required. Analytical skills necessary to resolve complex clinical problems. Ability to work independently and manage time, prioritization, multitasking. Ability to cope with physically and mentally stressful situations. Interpersonal skills for collaboration with peers, supervisors and medical staff. Ability to rotate shifts, work flexible hours, stand and walk up to 80% of time, push/pull equipment up to 170lb, lift supplies up to 25lb, move patients, assemble complex equipment. Must pass pre‑placement physical exam and physical capacity evaluation. Licenses & Certifications License Respiratory Care Practitioner (28) – State of Wisconsin required. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT – National Board). Within 1year required. BLS – Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider. NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Provider. PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 90days required. American Academy of Pediatrics/ American Heart Association within 90days required. Patient Care Responsibility Provides care appropriate to patient population and as described in applicable policies and procedures.
