Secondary Operations Specialist - Plastic Injection Molding Company: Omega Plastics Inc Primary Location: 24401 Capital Blvd, Clinton Township, MI 48036 USA Workplace Type: On-site Employment Type: Hourly | Full-Time Function: Manufacturing Production / Distribution Equal Opportunity Employer: Minorities/Women/Veterans/Disabled Position Summary We are seeking a hands‑on Secondary Operations Specialist to serve as the site’s SME for post‑molding processes within our plastic injection molding operation. This role is critical to ensuring high‑quality output, efficient secondary operations, and successful integration of processes such as pad printing, heat staking, ultrasonic welding, assembly, determining fixtures needed and working with the purchasing team for ordering fixtures as well as tool/version changes at the press. This individual will work closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to troubleshoot issues, improve processes, and support new program launches. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to lead by example on the production floor. Key Responsibilities Act as the technical SME for all secondary operations, including pad printing, heat staking, manual and automated assembly, and tool/version changes at the press. Support setup, validation, and optimization of secondary equipment and processes. Troubleshoot and resolve quality and process issues related to secondary operations. Partner with Engineering and Quality to ensure process capability and consistency. Lead and support new product launches, including development of secondary operation standards. Train and mentor operators and technicians on best practices and proper techniques for secondary processes. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, scrap reduction, and cycle time. Ensure adherence to safety standards and procedures across all secondary operations. Assist in development and documentation of standard work instructions and process parameters. Collaborate cross‑functionally to ensure seamless integration between molding and secondary processes. Technical training or certifications preferred. 5+ years of experience in plastic injection molding and/or secondary operations. Strong hands‑on experience with pad printing systems, heat staking equipment, assembly processes (manual and automated), and experience with tooling changes and version control at the press. Excellent troubleshooting of process and quality issues in a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles. Ability to train others and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, production‑focused environment. Compensation The expected pay range for this position is $28‑35 per hour. Compensation can vary depending on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and competencies.
