Description: This position is for a Pre-Op and PACU/Recovery unit. All nurses work in a combined Pre-op and PACU unit. Nurses are trained to work in both pre-op and PACU settings. The average daily census is 35-50 patients. The patient population ranges from pediatrics to geriatrics. Limited pediatrics are involved, with most patients aged 30 to 100 years. RNs will primarily work in either Pre-op or PACU based on the schedule. Call shifts are required for all staff 2-3 shifts per month. Call is scheduled for weekdays and weekends with a 30-minute callback requirement. Nurses may be floated within the Surgical Services unit as needed. All surgical patients are seen by a pre-op RN for assessment. The unit is busy, with many cases scheduled as add-ons. RNs will care for patients in both pre and post-operative settings if called in. The unit is staffed 24/7 with support available from techs. The nursing model encourages teamwork and interdisciplinary support. Experience with medication systems like Omnicell is beneficial. Special procedures in the unit include ICU, open hearts, and neurosurgery. This unit may also cover various surgical specialties, including bariatrics, ortho, and vascular surgeries. Robotic surgery is a significant component of the unit's offerings. Successful candidates will be adaptable and flexible with scheduling. All RNs are required to adhere to isolation precautions and safety protocols. Ensuring effective communication of lab results and patient conditions is crucial. Trained in critical care procedures, candidates will have experience in pain assessment and management. The position requires excellent clinical judgment and a commitment to patient care. Candidates must exhibit professionalism and compassion in all interactions.
