Responsibilities

St. Mary's Physician Associates is a multi-specialty group of employed physicians and midlevel providers that serve a ten-county area in NW Oklahoma. It is located in Enid, Oklahoma which is the county seat for Garfield County. Enid is the seventh largest city in Oklahoma with a population of approximately 65,000 but their primary service area in NW Oklahoma consists of 200,000. The group has satellite clinics in Hennessey, Fairview, Okeene, Woodward, and Ponca City. St. Mary's Physician Associates is affiliated with St. Mary's Regional Medical Center, a 229-bed facility. The Hospital has been recognized as an "A" rated facility by the Leapfrog Group, has obtained The Joint Commission Advanced Primary Stroke Center certification and the first hospital in Oklahoma to obtain Advanced Total Joint Replacement certification. The Hospital has also received awards for the Top 100 Safe Care Hospitals in the US, Award of Excellence by Health Grades for their Total Joint Replacement Program, received a Women's Choice Award for America's Best Hospitals for Obstetrics, Patient Safety and Emergency Care, they were named as a Top Workplace in Oklahoma, and many other prestigious awards. Independence Physician Management (IPM), a subsidiary of UHS, was formed in 2012 as the physician services unit of UHS. IPM develops and manages multi-specialty physician networks and urgent care clinics which align with UHS acute care facilities. It also provides select services for the Behavioral Health division of UHS. Through continuing growth, IPM operates in 11 markets across six states and the District of Columbia. Position Summary:

This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties which include a ssisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviewing patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), venipuncture and procedure as directed by the physician within the scope of practice in the State. Documentation is recorded in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with SMPA guideline. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Assists in covering the front desk as required.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Education :

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Medical Assistant certificate required or must obtain certification within six (6) months of employment

Current BLS certification required

Work experience :

Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant

Familiarity with medical terminology required

Experience with patient check-in and check-out process (according to clinic protocol)

Knowledge :

General medical office procedures

Understand end of day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process (according to clinic protocol)

Skills :

Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office

Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills

Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Abilities:

Must be able to perform courteously and professionally in all interactions

Equipment Operated:

Office equipment such as fax machine, copier and telephone system

EKG machine, other patient care testing

Work environment :

Works in a well-lighted, OSHA Standard environment

May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases

May be in contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances

Occasionally subject to irregular hours

May be required to wear personal protective equipment as necessary

Mental/Physical Requirements:

Must be ability to handle emergency or crisis situation

Must be able to see with corrective eye wear

Must be able to hear clearly with assistance
