Overview:

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is seeking an Infrastructure Solutions Architect to serve as a Solutions Engineer within the Solutions Engineering & Architecture Team (SEAT). The role will evaluate, design, and guide secure, scalable, interoperable, and supportable technology solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards.

Application:

Candidates should have strong experience in cloud and infrastructure architecture, including Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Azure services, Docker, Kubernetes, DevOps, IAM, cloud security, and relational and NoSQL databases.

Job Description:

The Infrastructure Solutions Architect will translate business and technical requirements into actionable technology designs across cloud and on-premises environments. The role will work with infrastructure, cloud, application, security, data, and enterprise architecture teams to develop solutions that meet technical, security, scalability, interoperability, and supportability requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate business and technical requirements and develop infrastructure and solution designs.
• Design secure, scalable, interoperable, and supportable technology solutions.
• Provide architectural guidance across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, application development, security, data, and enterprise architecture teams.
• Design and support solutions using Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud.
• Work with Azure App Service, AKS, Functions, Storage, and database services.
• Support containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Apply IAM, data protection, and cloud security best practices.
• Support DevOps, CI/CD, and Agile practices.
• Evaluate infrastructure, application, database, security, and integration requirements.
• Develop resilient and maintainable solutions aligned with enterprise standards.
• Communicate technical designs and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders.
• Identify technical risks and support issue resolution throughout the solution lifecycle.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience with Azure, AWS, and/or Google Cloud.
• 4+ years of experience with Azure App Service, AKS, Functions, Storage, and databases.
• 3+ years of experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• 3+ years of experience with C#, Java, Python, Go, and/or Node.js.
• 3+ years of experience with Azure DevOps and GitLab.
• 3+ years of experience with IAM, data protection, and cloud security best practices.
• 3+ years of experience with SQL Server, Oracle, and/or NoSQL databases.
• 3+ years of experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
• 4+ years of experience demonstrating strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
• Strong infrastructure architecture and technical engineering experience.
• Ability to develop solutions across cloud and on-premises environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working within enterprise architecture or solutions engineering teams.
• Experience with large-scale enterprise infrastructure environments.
• Experience integrating cloud and on-premises technologies.
• Experience designing highly available and resilient technology solutions.
• Government or healthcare IT experience.
