The unit is supported by:

Board runner
Charge nurse
Service line coordinators
Ancillary assistance for room turnovers

Equipment and Documentation

Type of Equipment: Belmont, ESU, positioning equipment
Documentation System: Meditech Expanse

Scheduling Requirements

Registered Nurse (RN) schedule: 7 AM - 4 PM, Monday - Thursday; 7 AM - 3 PM, Monday - Friday
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) schedule: 7 AM - 4 PM, Monday - Thursday; 7 AM - 3 PM, Monday - Friday

Floating Policy

Staff may float to the main operating rooms as needed.

Patient Experience Requirements

Direct patient interaction requiring exceptional communication skills, strong provider relations, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving and issue resolution.

Certifications

Required: BLS

Preferred: CNOR

Requested Skill Set

Proactive planning for potential issues
Strong teamwork and collaboration
Experience with scrub or circulate procedures, room setup, and turnover
Ability to obtain disposables and instrument sets as needed

Advanced Skills Needed

Sterile technique
Central line setup
Arterial line setup
Belmont setup and operation
Cell saver setup

Procedures Performed

This unit specializes in:

Open heart procedures
Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
Mitral Valve Replacement (MVR)
Tricuspid Valve Repair (TVR)
Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR)
Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS)
Vascular procedures

Dress Code

Scrubs will be provided.
