LGBTQ Programming Assistant# LGBTQ Programming AssistantQueens Center for Gay Seniors - Jackson Heights, NY 11372## OverviewSalary Range$17.00 - $18.00 HourlyPosition TypeFull Time## Description## **LGBTQ Programming Assistant**### **Queens Center for Gay Seniors (QCGS) | Jackson Heights, NY**### **Position Details****Status:** Full-Time **Compensation:** $17.00 – $18.00 per hour **Schedule:** Monday – Friday 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, 35 hours per week, occasional nights and weekends **Location:** Jackson Heights, Queens, NY## **The Position**Queens Community House (QCH) is seeking a compassionate, organized, and community-oriented **LGBTQ** **Programming Assistant** to support the Queens Center for Gay Seniors. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to make a meaningful impact in the lives of LGBTQ+ older adults. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys interacting with people throughout the day, is comfortable juggling multiple priorities, and approaches every task with a collaborative, "jump in and help" attitude. The Queens Center for Gay Seniors serves LGBTQ older adults throughout the Jackson Heights community by providing social, educational, recreational, and supportive services that promote healthy aging, independence, and community engagement. Beyond supporting the day-to-day operations of the center, the LGBTQ Programming Assistant plays an important role in creating a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment.For someone looking to build a career in nonprofit organizations, community engagement, aging services, or LGBTQ+ programming, this role offers exceptional hands-on experience and meaningful opportunities for professional growth while making a lasting difference in the community.## **What You’ll Do**### **Administrative & Clerical Support*** Welcome and assist participants, visitors, and community members in person and by phone.* Create and distribute flyers and promotional materials for programs and events.* Register new members and maintain participant records.* Support daily office operations and maintain organized files and documentation.### **Data Entry & Reporting*** Enter daily program activity into centralized database.* Verify and reconcile activity logs with system records.* Prepare monthly activity reports and submit required documentation.* Collaborate with the Database Manager to ensure participant and program information remains accurate and current.### **Program Operations & Outreach*** Assist with the setup and breakdown of meals, activities, and special events.* Support daily program operations and participant engagement.* Participate in community outreach efforts to increase awareness and participation in center activities.## Qualifications## **What We’re Looking For**### **Required Qualifications*** High School Diploma or GED.* Demonstrated experience serving, supporting, or engaging LGBTQ+ communities* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.* Tech-savvy with the ability to troubleshoot basic technology issues and learn new software independently.* Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, databases, and data entry systems.* Ability to lift and move up to 20 pounds and assist with setting up tables, chairs, and other equipment for programs and events.### **Preferred Qualifications*** Bilingual proficiency in Spanish strongly preferred.* Previous experience working with older adults or in a social service setting.* Administrative, office support, or customer service experience.* Experience creating flyers and other promotional materials* Experience using social media to promote programs, engage community members, and increase community awareness.## **Why Join Queens Community House?**At Queens Community House, we believe that strong communities are built through meaningful relationships, equitable opportunities, and accessible services.
