Psychiatrist Opportunity (Substance Abuse) / Kansas City, MO

The Kansas City, MO VA Medical Center is actively seeking a BE/BC Psychiatrist for our Substance Abuse Residential Treatment Program (SARRTP) and Outpatient Substance Use Disorder (SUD) clinic. This position is responsible for conducting assessments for psychiatric, substance abuse, alcohol abuse, social and any associated medical problems in the residential and outpatient clinical setting. You would also use appropriate treatment modalities including psychotropic medications, individual therapy, and group therapy. Treatment is designed to provide the full-range of clinically indicated treatment and rehabilitation services for patients with SUD, including ambulatory withdrawal management; treatment of the psychological and behavioral aspects of addiction with evidence-based addiction-focused pharmacotherapy and psychosocial interventions.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Hours: Primarily 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday Friday. There may eventually be a requirement for an evening/weekend clinic at some point, but still will always be a scheduled 40-hour work week.

Call Requirements: Telephone on weekdays, in person on weekends frequency is 1-in-12
Department Staffing: Approximately 12 psychiatrists/18 psychologists/30 SWs/2 APNs/2 LMFTs/2 LPCs/15 RNs
CME: $1,000 per year stipend for reimbursement + 1 week paid authorized absence (subject to availability)
Office arrangements: Private office
Work volume: 2/3rd Residential rehab on 28 bed unit; 1/3rd outpatient SUD clinic, plus admin and teaching time
