Medical Director & Associate Veterinarian – Long Beach, CA Location: Long Beach, California, USA Job Type: Full-time Level: Experienced Veterinarian / Medical Director Relocation Package: Available, up to $125,000 Signing & Retention Incentives: Available We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an exciting Medical Director & Associate Veterinarian opportunity in Long Beach, California . This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced veterinarian seeking a senior clinical leadership role, as well as for an Associate Veterinarian looking to take the next step in their veterinary career. The successful candidate will join an established, collaborative veterinary team providing high-quality small animal veterinary care to pets and their owners across Long Beach and the surrounding Southern California area. For the right veterinarian, there is a significant Medical Director leadership opportunity , offering increased compensation, production incentives and a monthly leadership stipend. The Medical Director package offers a competitive salary range of $225,000 to $270,000 USD , with additional earning potential through production and a monthly Medical Director stipend. You will work alongside experienced veterinarians, veterinary technicians and support professionals, collaborating closely with hospital and regional management. This position would suit a veterinarian who enjoys clinical medicine, surgery, dentistry, client communication, mentoring and veterinary practice leadership . The Medical Director component provides an opportunity to help maintain high standards of patient care, support clinical protocols, improve team efficiency and contribute to the continued development of the veterinary hospital. Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive veterinary examinations and medical work-ups. Diagnose and treat companion animal patients using appropriate evidence-based veterinary medicine. Perform veterinary surgical and dental procedures. Develop appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans. Communicate clearly with pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis and preventative healthcare. Maintain accurate and comprehensive veterinary medical records. Prescribe medications and comply with pharmacy and controlled-substance protocols. Monitor patients and clinical cases throughout their hospital stay. Participate in daily clinical rounds where appropriate. Support the implementation and maintenance of high standards of veterinary medicine. Review and monitor clinical protocols and hospital procedures. Work collaboratively with the Hospital Manager and Regional Manager on operational priorities. Promote teamwork, communication and efficiency across the veterinary team. Participate in practice management initiatives, training and professional development. Support the development and mentoring of veterinary and hospital team members. Contribute to a positive, professional and collaborative workplace culture. Required Qualifications: A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD) degree from an accredited veterinary college or university.
