Key Responsibilities of the Pharmacist:

• Accept and dispense prescription medications
• Monitor patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns
• Ensure that the supply of medicines is within the law
• Ensure that the medicines prescribed to patients are suitable
• Accurately maintain confidential records of all patients
• Advise patients about medicines, including how to take them, possible reactions, and answer questions
• Provide consultation on prescription and non-prescription medications
• Provide services such as smoking cessation and blood pressure measurement
• Educate patients on proper handling of medical devices
• Compound medications for use
• Prepare sterile solutions following procedures
• Supervise pharmacy staff
• Maintain inventory on pharmaceutical and medical supplies
• Identify and communicate patient drug-related problems
• Work with healthcare professionals to deliver patient care

Requirements of the Pharmacist:

• Doctor of Pharmacy degree required
• Licensed by the state pharmacy board
