Overview Civil Nuclear Engineer III or Senior Civil Nuclear Engineer – McGuire Nuclear Station. This position can be hired as either an Engineer III or Senior Engineer depending on experience. Responsibilities Develop the scope, technical basis, installation and testing requirements for engineering design changes, including but not limited to Stress Analysis, Structural Analysis, Dynamic/Seismic Analysis, Steel and Concrete Design. Research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternatives, determine and present recommendations to resolve issues. Provide ongoing support of assigned engineering design changes through work order reviews, corrective action program assignments, and field installation support activities. Develop or revise design/procurement specifications or technical requirements documents to support engineering design changes. Develop or revise complex engineering calculations impacted by engineering design changes. Develop licensing screens and evaluations that support engineering design changes. Revise site design basis documents, design drawings, and regulatory documents impacted by engineering design changes. Basic Qualifications Nuclear Engineer III Bachelor of Science in Engineering from ABET-accredited program. A Master’s degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of a BS. 4-6 years of engineering experience. Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience. Senior Nuclear Engineer Bachelor of Science in Engineering from ABET-accredited program. A Master’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited school will be considered in lieu of the BS. Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or 5 years with state registration as a Professional Engineer. Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program. Proficient in engineering theories and principles; proficient in project management. Experience in the utility industry; state registration as a Professional Engineer. Strong background in Mechanics of Materials; experience performing Finite Element Analysis. Working knowledge of Structural Analysis software (e.g., ANSYS, GTStrudl) and Dynamic/Seismic Structural Analysis. Working knowledge of Stress Analysis software (e.g., SuperPipe, AutoPipe, Caesar II). Working knowledge of ASME Codes (e.g., B31.1, Section III, Section IX, Section XI), AISC Steel Construction Codes (ASD, LFRD), and ACI Concrete Design Code. Familiarity with Solidworks or equivalent 3D modeling software. Experience with nuclear industry standard design processes. Special Requirements Must meet minimum ANSI requirements for Nuclear Operating Fleet Administrative Procedure AD-LS-ALL-0011 (Confirmation of Regulatory Guide 1.8 Personnel Qualifications). In lieu of 1 year of nuclear experience, selected candidate is subject to oversight and written approval authority of a designated qualified individual until fully qualified. Able to obtain nuclear site Unescorted Access/Security clearance. May have Emergency Response Organization (ERO) responsibilities, including callouts with defined response times and on-call duty rotation; must be fit for duty. Required to wear personal protective equipment as needed (hardhat, safety glasses, fall protection). Additional hours may be required due to workload; occasional overnight travel.
