Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides specialized perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. They collaborate with surgical teams to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes throughout the operative process.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients preoperatively to determine their health status and readiness for surgery.
• Prepare the operating room by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all supplies are available.
• Administer patient care during surgery, including monitoring vital signs and responding to emergent situations.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
• Maintain sterile techniques and adhere to strict safety protocols to prevent infection.
• Document all patient information, procedures, and observations accurately in electronic health records.

Qualifications:

• Active CA Registered Nurse license with validation through Nursys or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience working in an operating room environment.
• Certifications such as ACLS and BLS from AHA or ARC.
• Demonstrated knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile technique, and patient safety.
• Proficiency with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Strong communication skills to effectively explain procedures and coordinate with team members.
