Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department Profession: Nursing Specialty: RN Emergency Department Duration: Not specified Shift: 12hr Evening Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2-5 years nursing experience; must have 1 year ED experience within the past year License: RN License Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS; TNCC preferred Must-Have: General ED skills Strong IV skills Cardiac rhythm interpretation/monitoring Foley placement/management NGT placement/management Knowledgeable in STEMI/CVA/Sepsis treatments Medication titration Description: This position is located in a Level IV Trauma Center. It is a primary stroke center with a total of 277 beds. The average patient volume ranges between 100 to 160 per day. Patient types include neonates to geriatric, with 5%-8% being pediatrics. Common presentations include chest pain, dizziness, syncope, strokes, sepsis, orthopedic issues, respiratory distress/failure, STEMI, and COVID. Behavioral health clearance will also be part of the care provided. Patient ratios are 1:3-4 during day and night shifts. Technical support will include 2-4 ED Technicians per shift. Candidates should be skilled in phlebotomy, splinting, performing EKGs, and assisting with specimen collection. Telemetry monitoring will be handled both at the bedside and the nurses’ station. Travelers may float based on facility needs but will not take patient assignments. A weekend rotation every other weekend is expected. Approval for time off is required. Scrub color is flexible, but must be professional.
