Sr. Data Analyst

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (On-Site and Remote mix) Location: Durham, NC, US, 27710 Personnel Area: CENTRAL ADMIN MANAGEMENT CTR

BE YOU. At Duke University, we believe innovation, collaboration, and data-driven decision making create meaningful impact. Join Enterprise Supply Chain as a Senior Data Analyst and help transform complex data into actionable insights, automation solutions, and AI-enabled tools that improve operations across the university.

What You'll Do As a senior analytics professional, you will develop advanced reporting, automation, and business intelligence solutions that support Supply Chain initiatives and strategic decision making.

Advanced Analytics and Data Solution Development

Build advanced analytics solutions that support sourcing, operations, shared services, university supply chain, technology, contracting, business office, economic mobility, inventory, and other Supply Chain verticals. Translate complex business questions into practical data models, analysis products, decision tools, dashboards, and automated reporting routines. Use strong technical judgment to design solutions that are scalable, reproducible, documented, and sustainable beyond one-time analysis.

Power BI, Python and Automation Capability

Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, data models, measures, data transformations, and visual reporting products that help leaders manage performance and value creation. Use Python and related development methods to automate data preparation, analysis, repeatable reporting, data quality checks, refresh routines, and workflow support. Identify manual reporting and data collection processes that can be converted into automated or semi-automated solutions to reduce rework and improve reliability.

Enterprise-Approved AI and Agentic Solution Development

Develop AI-enabled and agentic solutions using enterprise-approved tools and governance pathways to improve analysis, workflow support, documentation, reporting, and decision readiness. Partner with leaders and analysts to identify use cases where AI can safely reduce manual effort, improve consistency, speed insight generation, or support complex project execution. Ensure AI-enabled solutions are documented, explainable, appropriately governed, and aligned with institutional expectations for data security, privacy, and responsible use.

Analytics Training, Standards and Sustainment

Train other analysts on development approaches, data preparation methods, Power BI sustainment, Python-enabled automation, and the practical use of enterprise-approved AI tools. Create reusable templates, documentation, standard work, code examples, dashboard design patterns, and sustainment routines that improve analytics team capability. Help analysts move from manual reporting to repeatable, governed, and automated solutions that can be supported over time.

Vertical Support and Business Partnership Support

Support all Supply Chain verticals by building analysis solutions that address specific operating questions, performance gaps, savings opportunities, risk indicators, and stakeholder reporting needs. Work with Supply Chain leaders to understand the business process, data source, user need, decision point, and expected impact before building the technical solution. Convert technical work into clear business insight, including concise narratives, visuals, recommendations, and next-step support for leaders.

Data Quality, Governance and Responsible Use

Protect confidence in analytics products by validating data logic, documenting assumptions, maintaining version control, and ensuring outputs can be explained and reproduced. Partner with analytics leadership, IT, finance, operations, sourcing, and other data owners to improve source data quality, metric definitions, and reporting consistency. Apply appropriate controls for sensitive data, enterprise-approved AI tools, data access, and responsible analytics development.
