The Company operates 165 communities that are home to nearly 12,000 residents across 35 states providing comfortable, safe, affordable communities where residents can form friendships, enjoy new experiences and receive personalized care from dedicated team members who treat them family.The Corporate Accountant reports to the Corporate Accounting Manager, and assists in the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes. The Corporate Accountant applies US GAAP principles and prepares journal entries and account reconciliations; provides critical analysis of changes in account balances; assists in project implementations; supports quarterly reviews and the year-end audit.Responsibilities:Participates in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for corporate-level entitiesPrepares monthly journal entries for corporate, including allocations of vendor expenses to properties, corporate level accruals, P-Card expenses and other additional monthly close entries.Reconciles assigned general ledger accounts on a monthly basis, including the documentation and resolution of variances or reconciling itemsEffectively communicates with internal peers, property personnel and managementPerforms general ledger account analysis, including documenting variance explanations, for assigned accounts and entitiesExperience with performing monthly bank reconciliationsAssists in special projects or duties, as assignedQualifications:BS in Accounting or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam required3 or more years of general accounting experienceExperience working at a publicly traded company or multi-entity environments requiredSkill/Knowledge Requirements:Experience with computer-based accounting systems, Yardi a plusIntermediate to advanced MS Excel, including V-lookups, functions, and pivot tables requiredKnowledge of US GAAP, accounting procedures and internal controlsExperience reviewing financial statements and creating variance analyses requiredAbility to act and operate independently with minimal daily directionAbility to adapt to change and multitask when neededSolid organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, problem solving, and results.Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
