Job Overview The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) delivers expert, family-centered care for infants and toddlers up to age 2, across the wellness-illness continuum. In collaboration with healthcare providers, the NNP performs comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and manages acute, chronic, and critical conditions. Responsibilities include conducting exams, interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing treatments and medications, and coordinating referrals. The NNP also promotes health education, disease prevention, and counseling. As a clinical leader, the NNP fosters interprofessional collaboration and integrates evidence-based practice to ensure high-quality care. Location Longmont United Level II NICU Position Status Flex, not eligible for benefits Shift 24-hour shift well-baby coverage. On-call model, 30 minute response time Salary Information Hourly Rate of Pay: $79.18 Duties & Responsibilities Family Centered Care: Consistently integrates age-specific concepts and culturally diverse considerations into patient care, considering both chronological age and developmental functioning. Advocates for the neonatal patient/family/caregiver. Promotes self-management and family-centered care. Derives outcomes and plans of care that involve the patient/family/caregiver when possible and realistic to their capabilities and resources. Provides patient/family/caregiver with diagnostic and laboratory results as well as benefits, limitations, and adverse effects of proposed therapies. Teamwork & Collaboration: Provides leadership in care management to achieve optimal quality and cost-effective care. Documents and communicates with the healthcare team to achieve integrated pediatric care delivery. Delegates appropriate monitoring, assessment, and interventions according to the patient and scope of practice; provides consultation to improve the plan of care and healthcare system. Makes appropriate referrals and discusses recommendations with the patient/family/caregiver. Quality Improvement: Participates in quality improvement activities or research to improve care delivery and patient outcomes; uses results to initiate practice change. Uses creativity, new knowledge, and innovation to improve care. Safety: Maintains professional practice with evidence-based approaches. Communicates and demonstrates critical thinking for patient care management. Monitors safety and departmental policies and procedures. Maintains clinical competency and takes responsibility for ongoing learning. Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic/non-pharmacological interventions and monitors effects. Employs diverse strategies and teaching to promote health and a safe environment. Orders and/or performs treatments, therapies, and procedures based on current knowledge and practice. Uses information and technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision making. Leadership: Acts on performance goals to drive changes in practice and role performance. Engages in lifelong learning to improve clinical skills. Serves as a preceptor, role model, or mentor. Contributes to professional development of peers to advance neonatal care and the profession; integrates ethics and research into practice. Provides leadership by participating on committees or in professional organizations, or through writing/publishing/presenting. Leads by influencing healthcare/APN practice and policy. Minimum Qualifications Degrees Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master’s Degree in NNP Experience Three (3) years' combined experience as RN or NNP in a neonatal setting Circumcision procedure experience preferred Licenses & Certifications Registered Nurse License (RN) Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) License Prescriptive Authority License Board Certification as a NNP BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certificate Benefits Information As a Children’s Hospital Colorado team member, you will receive a competitive pay and benefits package designed to take care of your needs that includes base pay, incentives, paid sick leave and a robust wellness program.
