Veterinary Technician - Surgery

BluePearl Pet Hospital Vacancy – Veterinary Technician, Surgery Team (Peoria, AZ) Schedule: Monday-Thursday; on‑call availability. Pay: $21.00 – $30.00 per hour. This band is a starting point and depends on experience and advancement through Kahuna leveling. Competitive shift differential pay is available for eligible night and weekend hours, with a minimum 4‑hour shift. Mon – Fri: 6 pm to 8 am = $3.50 shift differential Sat & Sun: 6 pm to 8 am = $5.00 shift differential Sat & Sun: 8 am to 6 pm = $3.50 shift differential Qualifications: Minimum two years veterinary hospital experience. Ability to work independently and communicate post‑operative client instructions. Rotating on‑call schedule required after training completion. Responsibilities Provide nursing care to stable patients per hospital standards and core values. Prepare patients for surgery: assessments, anesthetic prep, surgical site prep. Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia for soft‑tissue and orthopedic procedures. Monitor vital signs during anesthesia and respond to changes. Set up and maintain anesthesia monitoring equipment, ventilators, fluid pumps, warming devices. Assist surgeons by maintaining a sterile field, performing scrub and gowning, passing instruments and supplies. Prepare, clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment. Perform pre‑ and post‑operative patient care: pain management, bandaging, drain care, recovery monitoring. Place peripheral IV catheters, administer medications and fluids, calculate and maintain CRIs. Obtain diagnostic samples and perform treatments per clinician direction. Communicate with clients regarding post‑operative care instructions and patient updates. Collaborate closely with teams in other services for exceptional patient care.
