The Ohio State University Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences invites applications for one full-time faculty position in Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery. Applicants must have a commitment to excellence in clinical service and teaching. Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree. Specialty certification by ACVS will be required. Individuals who will be ACVS board eligible are encouraged to apply. An advanced degree or equivalent research experience is desirable for tenure-track candidates.
The successful candidate will join a distinguished small animal surgery program that currently includes 11 ACVS diplomates, 2 ECVS diplomates, fellow in Surgical Oncology and surgery residents in addition to a robust small animal clinical faculty. The Veterinary Medical Center has state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, including diagnostic imaging (128-slice CT, 3-Tesla MRI, PET/CT), an independent rehabilitation service and surgical capabilities. All clinical facilities, including the surgical suites, were completely renovated in 2017.
Clinical responsibilities include general soft tissue surgery including emergency surgery, wound management and some oncologic surgery. Teaching responsibilities will include lectures, surgical skills, laboratories, and clinical teaching of small animal soft tissue surgery to professional students, interns, residents, and graduate students. Clinical-track candidates will be assigned up to 60-70% of the time in clinics, including clinical teaching of students and advanced training of interns and residents. Clinical week schedule is adaptable to accommodate dynamic clinical coverage and patient needs.
