Our modern, growing private dental practice in  Pacific Beach, CA is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable  Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) to join our collaborative team. This is a full-time dental assistant position Monday–Thursday

We welcome candidates with chairside assisting experience and light front office skills, or a willingness to learn front-desk duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide chairside dental assisting during general, cosmetic, and restorative procedures
• Prepare and maintain sterile treatment rooms following OSHA and infection control protocols
• Take digital dental X-rays, intraoral photos, and digital scans (iTero experience preferred)
• Assist with Invisalign procedures, impressions, attachments and patient education
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, treatment plans, and post-operative care
• Maintain accurate electronic dental records using Dentrix software
• Support front office with light administrative tasks as needed
• Manage dental instruments, equipment maintenance, and inventory control
• Deliver exceptional patient care with strong communication and customer service skills

Qualifications & Requirements

• Active Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license
• Current Dental X-ray Certification
• Coronal Polish Certification
• Current CPR/BLS Certification
• Experience with general dentistry procedures
• Knowledge of OSHA, sterilization, and infection control standards
• Familiarity with Dentrix, Invisalign, and iTero (preferred)
• Strong teamwork, time management, and patient communication skills

Long ago, he developed a special interest in encouraging children to take care of their teeth after consulting with two young patients who had never been to the dentist. Struck by their situation, Dr. Hernandez felt the strong desire to write a children’s book that would show children the benefits of dental care, and paint dentistry for what it could be – a pleasant experience. To go along with this children’s book, Dr. Hernandez also created a music CD for his young patients, on which he sings about dental related topics, further teaching children the positive side of dental care.

Concerned with the appearance of his patients' smiles as well as their oral health, Dr. Hernandez also offers a number of cosmetic treatments at our Pacific Beach Smile Studio. He believes that cosmetic dentistry is highly rewarding to both the patient and to the dentist, as there is nothing like seeing a patient's confidence transformed along with his or her smile, first not wanting to smile, and then not being able to stop.

Dr. Hernandez holds memberships to the American Dental Association and the San Diego Dental Association.
