Role Description We are seeking an ambitious, growth-minded Branch Manager to lead, scale, and optimize our freight brokerage branch. In this "player-coach" role, you will own the location's Profit and Loss (P&L) statements, drive commercial sales growth, and build a high-performing logistics team. The ideal candidate possesses deep freight brokerage experience, a proven track record of hitting aggressive margin goals, and the leadership skills necessary to recruit, train, and retain top talent. Key Responsibilities Financial & Strategic Leadership: Own the P&L: Manage the branch budget, drive gross margin growth, and ensure maximum operational profitability. Execute Strategy: Develop and execute an annual business plan aligned with corporate volume and revenue goals. Analyze Data: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify market trends, pricing shifts, and operational bottlenecks. Team Performance & Development: Recruit & Scale: Source, interview, and hire high-potential Freight Brokers, Account Managers, and Logistics Coordinators. Train & Mentor: Provide continuous coaching on cold calling, account management, negotiation tactics, and market pricing strategies. Hold Accountable: Establish clear individual performance metrics, conduct regular reviews, and foster a competitive, high-energy sales floor. Business Development & Carrier Relations: Drive New Business: Prospect and close high-volume enterprise and mid-market shipper accounts. Retain Key Accounts: Act as an escalation point for premium clients to guarantee exceptional customer service. Build Capacity: Oversee carrier procurement strategies to source reliable, cost-effective capacity across Dry Van, Flatbed, Reefer, and LTL modes. Qualifications & Requirements Experience: 5-10+ years in a freight brokerage environment, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership, supervisory, or senior-level role. Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of freight market dynamics, spot/contract pricing, DOT regulations, and carrier compliance. Software Proficiency: Advanced experience using a standard Transportation Management System (TMS), CRM software, and load boards (e.g., DAT, Truckstop). Skills: Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, verbal communication, and public speaking abilities. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent practical industry experience.
