Quality Technician

As a Quality Technician , you will perform laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of in-process batches, raw materials, and finished products for quality control, process control, or product development. Key Responsibilities Verifies formula and component specifications on batch tickets. Sets up, adjusts, calibrates, and operates laboratory equipment and instruments such as paint guns, mixers, viscometers, chemical balances, pH meters, gloss meters, solids analyzer, spectrophotometer, and other equipment. Tests samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications. Records test results on batch tickets and in company’s computer operating system. Organizes and maintains quality records and retention of production batches. Evaluates retention of production batches in response to quality complaints. Conducts incoming raw materials testing, ensuring conformance to required specifications. Performs routine production quality checks to ensure finished products are filled and packaged according to specifications. Performs occasional quality audits of laboratory and production work instructions to ensure compliance with the company’s Quality Policy. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering field preferred. Inspection, test and product evaluation experience. General knowledge of Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma methodologies preferred. Ability to clearly identify and communicate issues that need to be addressed and to take the necessary steps to avoid future errors. PPG offers equal opportunity to all candidates and employees.
