Network Engineer

Third Shift Wide Area Network EngineerNexGen Data Systems is seeking a Third Shift Wide Area Network Engineer. This engineer will support internal and external customers and engage with them frequently. They are responsible for identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving network issues.Roles & Responsibilities:Troubleshooting and resolving network issues in a timely manner with a variety of different network devices and protocols.Working in a team setting and making recommendations related to troubleshooting, device configuration, and documentation.Effectively interacting with multiple customers on a daily basis.Other Duties: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.Desired/Required Skills:Must be willing and able to work Mon-Fri 2200 to 0630 CDT (Third Shift)Active Department of Defense Secret level security clearance required.DoD Approved 8570 / 8140 OS and Cybersecurity certifications required.5+ years relevant experience in supporting a large network infrastructure.A strong working knowledge with Routers, Switches, Firewalls, and Virtual Private Network devices.A good understanding of TCP/IP in regards to routing and subnettingMust be a team player that can work under pressure with good written and oral communication skillsExperience with the following Network protocols and services: Routing Protocols (OSPF, BGP), Access Control Lists, Layer 2 Switching, Spanning Tree, and Packet AnalysisExperience with the following a plus: Cisco Switches, Palo Alto Firewalls, and F5 devices.A strong sense of urgency including self-governance on task priority.Must be willing to work shifts to cover a 24x7 operational environment.About the Company:NexGen Data Systems is an emerging technologies focused company providing expert systems and network engineering solutions to the Department of Defense.
