Installs, operates, and maintains electronic gas measurement equipment to ensure safe pressures and accurate measurement of gas. Provides technical assistance in the installation, repair, and maintenance of Water and Gas AMI equipment, flow corrector devices, pressure measurement equipment, and their related data acquisition systems. Prepares documentation and records of work performed; and communicates with customers, vendors, and co-workers to ensure optimal perforce of equipment.

- Installs flow corrector on meter by connecting phone line, communicating with modem, calibrating unit, updating software in office; determining the requirements for electronic equipment that will meet measurement and work well with existing meters; participating in selection and making recommendations for the purchase of electronic flow correctors placed on key customers; testing and calibrating electronic flow correctors in accordance with DOT and SCC regulations; maintaining inventory of repair/replacement parts and orders as needed; and performing daily check from office to ensure all system are working as expected.
- Installs and maintains transducers by connecting phone lines, coordinating with modems and updates software in office; troubleshooting and making needed repairs of modems, telemetry and phone lines in field and software in office; coordinating work with telephone company, other divisions and departments; training operators to use monitoring software effectively; and maintaining inventory of repair/replacement parts and ordering as needed.
- Provides technical assistance in the installation, repair and maintenance of Water and Gas AMI and other equipment by installing remote modules and programming as needed; maintaining maintenance and repair records; assisting with the Trimble hand held devices; cleaning and replacing batteries; calibrating and installing software upgrades or sending off for repair; managing the inventory of AMI parts, including Trimble device parts; and installing and maintaining the weather monitoring station.
- Prepares documentation and records of work performed by maintaining records of readings taken from measurement and pressure system; maintaining files on all maintenance, repair and calibration work performed at customer stations and pressure monitoring points; maintaining database of key customers, type of equipment, type of installation; and preparing timesheet and material issue tickets.
- Communicates with customers, vendors and co-workers to ensure optimal performance of equipment by corresponding both verbally and in writing with vendors, salespersons, telephone personnel, internal and other external customers; investigating key customer complaints regarding gas leaks and questionable meter readings; assisting customers as needed; and working with vendors to increase knowledge base of equipment.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Assists meter, regulator, service, and distribution personnel with various trades’ duties.
- Maintains trucks.
- Performs various small maintenance work and repairs.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the specific requirements listed above Certifications/Licenses
Associate’s Degree, with knowledge of a specific vocational or technical nature, from a college, vocational or technical school; basic computer skills; and two to four years of experience.Valid Driver’s License (Class C) with acceptable driving record according to City Criteria

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE
Typically requires use of standard office equipment, including computer and related hardware and software; hand-held voltage testers, gauges, hand tools, soldering irons, meters, construction tools; and any other equipment as appropriate or required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed both indoors and in the field, where there is frequent exposure to fire hazards. There is occasional exposure to respiratory and electrical hazards, and seasonal exposure to extreme temperature and wetness/humidity. There is rare exposure to mechanical and chemical hazards, explosives, and communicable diseases.
The employee is expected to use appropriate protective equipment for the assigned task (hard hat, safety vest, steel toe shoes, hearing and eye protection, etc.); and any other equipment as apparent or assigned.
