Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Oncology Duration: 20 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Active RN License required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS (Required), ACLS and Chemotherapy (Preferred) Must-Have: Inpatient oncology experience Patient Ratio: 1:2 Ability to float within the specialty Description: This position requires a registered nurse specializing in oncology. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of nursing experience. The nurse will work three 12-hour night shifts per week, with hours from 1900 to 0700. Every other weekend coverage is required. Holidays will be required as scheduled. No on-call requirements are anticipated unless real-time census and staffing needs dictate otherwise. Floating within the specialty and lower acuity may be required. Candidates must possess certifications in BLS and NIHSS, with ACLS and Chemotherapy certifications preferred. Strong inpatient oncology skills are necessary for this role. The ability to handle patient ratios of 1:2 is essential. Effective communication with patients and families is vital. Candidates should be familiar with charting systems, particularly Epic. Experience with administering chemotherapy and other oncology treatments is necessary. Knowledge of managing complications such as anaphylaxis and extravasation injury is required. Support from interdisciplinary teams will be part of the role. There will be a daily patient census of approximately 30. Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic patient care environment are important. Compliance with required certifications and training will be expected. Adherence to infection control and isolation precautions is necessary. Candidates should be prepared for potential exposure to chemotherapy agents. Documentation and reporting of patient conditions must be accurate and timely.
