Department Details The 16-bed Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU) is located within a Level 1 trauma hospital and designated Comprehensive Stroke Center, providing specialized care for patients with critical neurological conditions. This unit manages complex cases including traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes, and patients requiring external ventricular drains (EVDs) or lumbar drains for intracranial pressure management. With a focus on continuous neuro‑monitoring and acute assessments, the Neuro ICU is staffed by a highly skilled multidisciplinary team that is able to offer state of the art interventions such as various SAH management (coiling, clipping, diverting, and vasospasm control). The team is dedicated to delivering evidence‑based, patient‑centered care in a technologically advanced and fast‑paced environment. Responsibilities Plans and coordinates patient care, assessment, education, triage and various other nursing interventions Collaborates with colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement and evaluate care Empathetically cares for patients during all stages of preventive services, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment and follow‑up along the continuum of care Demonstrates competency and uses comprehensive nursing expertise Qualifications Graduate from an accredited nursing program required, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred. Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
