Municipal Associate

Direct Counsel is seeking a Municipal Associate to join a respected and growing public law practice in San Diego. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 2-4 years of experience interested in working with cities, counties, special districts, and other public agencies throughout California.

The ideal candidate will have experience with municipal or public agency law and possess strong writing, analytical, research, and drafting skills. Candidates should be proactive, collaborative, and comfortable managing matters independently while communicating directly with public officials and agency staff.
Responsibilities

• Review and draft agreements, including municipal and public agency contracts
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on municipal law issues
• Assist with matters involving public contracting, procurement, and regulatory compliance
• Support attorneys with transactional and advisory matters for public agency clients
• Communicate effectively with clients, public officials, and colleagues

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in municipal law, public agency law, or related practice areas
• Excellent academic credentials and strong communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments effectively
• California Bar admission required

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range: $150,000 - $175,000
• Annual performance-based and billable hours bonuses
• Mainly Remote, but must reside in CA
