Forklift Operator - 2nd Shift

Job Summary | The Forklift Operator in the Shipping department is responsible for accurately and safely loading trucks and transporting glass throughout the facility to meet daily shipping requirements at Cardinal IG, a world-class glass fabricator that leads the nation in providing the highest quality insulating glass products for the residential window and door industry. Essential Functions | Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety practices and guidelines Inspect racks for quality and verify the product is loaded accurately to meet or exceed Cardinal and customer expectations Safely operate powered equipment while transporting glass throughout the facility and loading and unloading products Ensure the driving zone is clear from debris or hazards by maintaining a clean work environment Operate manipulator to pack glass into wooden crates, if necessary Ensure all rejected glass is dumped into recycling bins Utilize handheld scanners when loading trailers to create bill of lading Communicate with IG department to stage racks required for production Utilize the wrap machine or shrink-wrap racks manually Ensure open communication with manager and team by ensuring radio remains on while working on the plant floor Willingness to seek out additional roles and responsibilities within your department Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively, ensuring all radio calls are answered Assist the team, leads, and management in achieving departmental objectives Strong organization and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to read, write, and communicate in English Perform housekeeping tasks in the workspace to maintain a clean work area May be required to work overtime, different shifts, and perform additional tasks to meet company needs and deadlines Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and potentially sharp objects Noise levels can be high and will vary based on the location in the plant May be required to move racks outdoors and indoors Note: A baseline audiogram will be completed and may require yearly maintenance testing provided by Cardinal Glass Industries.
