Firm: Rapidly Growing Private Equity / Real Estate Investment Firm

Location: New York, NY | 4 Days In-Office, 1 Day Remote

Compensation: Up to $350K Total Compensation, Depending on Experience

The firm is open to hiring at either the Controller or Assistant Controller level , depending on experience. This individual will partner closely with senior finance leadership and investment teams, taking ownership of core accounting and reporting functions while helping enhance processes as the business continues to scale.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and financial reporting across real estate investment vehicles, funds, and related entities.
\n
• Manage general ledger activity, account reconciliations, cash management, accounts payable, and investor distributions.
\n
• Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes with internal stakeholders and external service providers.
\n
• Research and apply technical accounting guidance related to investment structures, consolidations, joint ventures, and complex transactions.
\n
• Partner with investment and asset management teams on portfolio performance, financial analysis, and transaction-related matters.
\n
• Coordinate external audits and support the preparation of financial statements and supporting documentation.
\n
• Assist with investor reporting, financial models, and reporting packages for internal and external stakeholders.
\n
• Work with external tax advisors on tax compliance, entity-level filings, and investor reporting requirements.
\n
• Develop and enhance accounting policies, internal controls, and financial reporting procedures.
\n
• Oversee, mentor, and develop junior accounting professionals.
\n
• Support senior finance leadership on ad hoc projects, process improvements, and broader business initiatives.

Qualifications

\n
• 7-10+ years of relevant accounting experience within real estate investment, private equity, or a related investment platform.
\n
• Active CPA license required.
\n
• Experience across public accounting and/or private industry, ideally with exposure to complex real estate investment structures.
\n
• Strong understanding of US GAAP, investment accounting, financial reporting, and entity-level accounting.
\n
• Experience with real estate accounting systems such as Yardi, MRI, or comparable platforms.
\n
• Prior experience managing, mentoring, or overseeing accounting professionals.
\n
• Familiarity with financial statement audits, internal controls, and tax compliance.
\n
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
\n
• Hands-on, proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
