We are a multi-specialty pediatric clinic that provides care across a variety of specialty services at SE Aurora Southlands and South Campus Highlands Ranch. In this role, the Medical Assistant will support multiple specialty clinics and play an important part in delivering excellent patient care. Responsibilities include rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, documenting patient information, and helping manage clinic flow. Certified Medical Assistants are preferred. New graduates from accredited Medical Assistant programs are welcome to apply. Location/Department: SE Aurora Outpatient Specialty Care Job Details: 0.50 FTE; 20 hours/week – eligible for benefits Shift: Our clinics are open Monday through Friday, with typical hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We are closed on all hospital-recognized holidays. Duties & Responsibilities Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment. Conducts quality checks. Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment. Reports areas of concern to next care provider. Supports patient care delivery by assisting health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic testing; disposing of contaminated supplies; cleaning or preparing for sterilization of medical instruments; administering medications per policy and procedures; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies and other duties within scope. Assists in balancing workloads, coordinates and maintains clinic flow by coordinating with providers, and monitoring patient flow. Provides phlebotomy. Completes lab test follow up and medical record documentation. Prepares and completes medical record for visit by recording patient information, treatment, and test results. Assists with patient "MyChart" enrollment. Participates in the standardized education of patients through written instructions and answering questions as directed by provider. Independently initiates referrals and insurance pre-authorizations. Provides general office support including phone and fax management. Serves as the preceptor for new staff, including orientation, education, skill validation, tracking, assessment and monitoring progress. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations. Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential. Adheres to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and The Joint Commission standards. Minimum Qualifications Degrees High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program. Experience None required. Pediatric experience preferred. Licenses & Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers / CPR. Salary Information Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
