The approximate date of this internship is January 2027 to June 2027, located in Orlando, FL.

What You Will Do

As part of the Character Programs & Development Digital Design team , we collaborate with Digital Sculptors, Materials Teams, and production partners/vendors to help inform production capabilities, limitations, and consider the potential cost impact of design, production, and technology choices. The Industrial Design Intern will help build production-ready digital assets, technical drawings, and specs of varied products to bring characters to life across all Disney Parks, Resorts & Cruise Ships, worldwide.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Ability to proficiently build/communicate design concepts through 3D design software while showcasing innovative and creative design solutions, with a strong emphasis on complex CAD surface modeling and design
• Ability to process ideas through physical prototyping/mockup creation with strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and product development methodologies
• Effective understanding of the detailed relationship between aesthetics/function and ergonomics, human factors, and user experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in 3D CAD Software. (e.g. Solidworks, Autodesk Fusion360, Rhino)
• Recognizable passion for 3D Printing, model making, Toy Design, 3D scanning, Costume Design, prop making, etc.
• Experience with digital sculpting tools (e.g. Zbrush, Blender, Maya)
• Collaborative problem solver with the ability to communicate/work with cross-functional teams

Education

• Currently enrolled as a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student level with a degree in : Industrial Design, Product Design, Toy Design, Themed Entertainment Design, Animatronics, or MechanicalEngineering

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all the requirements below:

• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university, taking at least one class at the time of application posting, OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Possess unrestricted work authorization
• Possess a valid US driver's license and have the ability to operate a company vehicle
• Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program
• Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
