Job Title: CNC Machinist
Job Description
This role involves safely setting up and operating CNC lathes and mills to produce high-quality parts in a productive, unionized manufacturing environment. You will use existing programs and tooling, perform adjustments as needed, and ensure all work meets strict quality and documentation standards.
Responsibilities

• Work effectively within a unionized manufacturing environment while following all established policies and procedures.
• Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills using existing programs and tooling to produce precision components.
• Install and adjust tooling on CNC machines to meet job specifications and production requirements.
• Make edit changes to existing CNC programs and tooling as required to improve quality, accuracy, or efficiency.
• Perform offset changes on CNC equipment to maintain dimensional accuracy and part quality.
• Conduct start-up inspections of equipment and tools to verify proper setup, functionality, and safety before production.
• Use calibrated measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to inspect parts and verify critical dimensions.
• Use hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, hex keys, and Torx tools to complete machine setup, adjustments, and maintenance tasks.
• Work cohesively within a team environment, including participation in high-performance team activities, audits, and daily huddles.
• Complete thorough quality and production documentation, including but not limited to First Article Inspection (FAI) reports, Day by Hour reports, and audit documentation, as required.
• Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills

• Experience operating CNC lathes and mills in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to set up CNC machines using existing programs and tooling, including installing and adjusting tooling.
• Ability to make edit changes to existing CNC programs and tooling as needed.
• Ability to perform offset changes on CNC equipment to maintain part accuracy.
• Proficient use of calibrated measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Proficient use of hand tools including wrenches, screwdrivers, hex keys, and Torx tools.
• High school diploma or equivalent certificate from an accredited school or program.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a related machining or manufacturing field.
• Strong math skills, including the ability to apply trigonometry in machining and setup tasks.
• Ability to complete detailed quality and production documentation accurately and on time.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and participate in audits and daily huddles.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and productivity in a production setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of Okuma or similar CNC programmable mills and lathes.
• Experience working in a unionized environment.
• Familiarity with First Article Inspection (FAI) processes and documentation.
• Experience completing Day by Hour production reports and participating in audits.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills in a machining environment.

Work Environment
The role is based in a unionized manufacturing facility focused on CNC machining operations. You will work primarily on CNC lathes and mills, including programmable equipment such as Okuma or similar machines. Standard shift hours are approximately 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the expectation that you remain open to additional hours and weekend work as production needs require. The environment emphasizes safety, quality, and collaboration, with regular team huddles, audits, and structured documentation practices. You will use a variety of calibrated measuring tools and hand tools as part of daily setup and inspection activities in a production-floor setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Richmond, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
