Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg Telemetry

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse for a Med/Surg Telemetry unit. This position requires expertise in acute patient care, telemetry monitoring, and a variety of medical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor patients' vital signs and interpret dysrhythmias.
• Administer medications, including blood products and IV therapies.
• Manage patient care for conditions including bowel obstructions, renal failure, and post-operative recovery.
• Perform wound care, including the use of wound vacs.
• Utilize isolation precautions and manage patient safety through proper ventilation and airway management.
• Utilize and maintain telemetry equipment and oversee rapid response and code teams as needed.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care.

Required Skills and Certifications

• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience in a Med/Surg or Telemetry setting.
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications.
• Ability to float to other units as required.
• Experience with chronic conditions, including diabetes, CHF, and COPD.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

• ACLS certification.
• Previous charge nurse experience.
• Experience in telemetry monitoring and electronic documentation systems.
• Knowledge of CBI, surgical drains, and tracheostomy care.

Scheduling and Shifts

• Full-time shift: Night shift from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Options for 36 or 48-hour shifts are available.
• Flexible scheduling with every other weekend requirement.
• Required to work holidays as needed.
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off per contract.

Unit Information

Patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:6. Unit orientation is 24 hours. All contract staff may be required to work with Storm Teams or during catastrophic events.

Patient Population

Common patient diagnoses include but are not limited to diabetes, dementia, COVID-19, pneumonia, sepsis, and various surgical recovery cases.

Scrubs

Approved scrub colors are navy blue or white.
