Position Systems Administrator – Salary $84,538.06 – $107,893.97 annually. Final Filing – 5:00 pm Tuesday, July 7, 2026. Overview Open recruitment for Systems Administrator (designation within classification of Information Technology Analyst). The incumbent will be primarily responsible for analyzing and resolving hardware, software, application, and network problems; installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining network, server and storage devices; configuring and maintaining file servers and directories; defining technical specifications from user and business requirements; project planning coordination; developing service level agreements; creating and executing test plans and test cases; communicating technical issues to users and the client community; and performing user acceptance testing. Primary Duties Work independently on large‑scale complex infrastructure projects and other complex Court projects as assigned. Provision, install, configure, operate and maintain a complex infrastructure environment (LAN, WAN, VPN, intrusion detection systems, wireless, VoIP, physical servers, virtual servers, routers, switches, firewalls, etc.). Administer servers, desktops, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, smartphones, software deployment, security updates and patches. Implement leading‑edge technologies to enhance end‑user productivity. Design and implement new solutions and improve the resilience of the current environment. Manage activities that keep the infrastructure performing optimally, including backing up the system, performance tuning, installing operating system upgrades and patches, implementing security and virus protection, and providing after‑hour monitoring and support. Monitor network security in assigned areas and collaborate with senior staff to resolve security issues. Manage user accounts, security, backups, data recovery processes, electronic mail, enterprise applications, software updates and print/file services. Perform any project and priority work assigned by management. Act as liaison between the Court and vendors. Serve as second level for IT help desk issues involving network, file server and other matters assigned. Identify improvement opportunities, including tools, processes, procedures, installation, configuration and troubleshooting techniques. Provide technical and end‑user computer training. Prepare technical documentation and procedural manuals. Perform other duties as may be assigned. Qualifications The candidate must work well with others and independently; manage multiple demands and deadlines; maintain a positive and professional attitude; possess excellent interpersonal, oral communication skills; and work in a confidential environment. Regular and punctual attendance is essential. Education and Work Experience Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information systems or a closely related field and two (2) years’ experience in systems analysis, systems engineering, programming, database administration/analysis, operating systems, network analysis and/or management or similar field in a multi‑platform information systems environment. Associate’s Degree in computer science, information systems or a closely related field and four (4) years’ experience in the same areas. Two (2) years’ experience as an Information Systems Technician II with this Court. Relevant full‑time experience may substitute for either degree requirement on a year‑for‑year basis. Alternatively, completion of an approved computer science certification program in database, programming, systems analysis or technical operations may substitute for one year of a degree requirement. Preferred but not required licenses or certifications include Cisco CCNA, VMware, Microsoft Associate, and CISSP. Conditions of Employment Successful completion of a fingerprint and criminal record background check is required prior to appointment. Employee may be required to travel to other Court locations; possession of a valid California driver’s license or the ability to travel independently is required. All employees operating a vehicle on Court business must certify possession of a valid California driver’s license and required levels of automobile insurance. Other Employment Details Felony and misdemeanor convictions may be disqualifying. The Court will assess the nature, gravity, elapsed time, and suitability of the offense to the duties performed.
