Systems Administrator

*Description*

* *AWS Cloud Administration & DevOps: *Experience managing and optimizing AWS environments, including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, cloud infrastructure, automation, and DevOps best practices.
* *Linux System Administration & Middleware Support:* Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), WebLogic, Java/J2EE applications, server administration, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
* *Automation, CI/CD & Cloud Modernization: *Experience with Python/Shell scripting, GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and migrating legacy applications to modern cloud-native architectures.

*POSITION SUMMARY:*
This role requires expertise in traditional system administration (RHEL, WebLogic, Oracle) and modern DevOps practices on AWS. A key responsibility will be building a Proof of Concept (POC) to re-architect and rebuild the legacy application in a scalable, cloud-native AWS environment.
DETAILED LIST OF ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Responsible for providing technology initiatives, support on-going release activities and POC for applications as System Admin/DevOps engineer.
* Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers in AWS cloud environments (EC2 instances).
* Administer and troubleshoot Java/J2EE applications deployed on WebLogic application servers, including configuration of JDBC data sources, connection pools, and JVM performance monitoring.
* Provide system-level support for Oracle RDS, collaborating with DBA teams for performance tuning, backup, and recovery.
* Monitor system performance, availability, and security using tools like Dynatrace, CloudWatch and implement robust troubleshooting procedures for application and infrastructure issues.
* Build a Proof of Concept (POC) for rebuilding the legacy Java/J2EE application using modern AWS services (e.g., Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3), micro services to improve scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
* Automate routine administrative tasks using scripting languages (Shell, Python, Jython, WLST) to increase operational efficiency.
* Work closely with development, testing, and operations teams to bridge the gap between development and operations, ensuring smooth software delivery and knowledge sharing.
SKILLS:
* Proven experience as a System Administrator or DevOps Engineer managing enterprise-level applications.
* Strong expertise in AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.).
* Hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration.
* Proficiency in administering WebLogic application servers and supporting Java/J2EE applications.
* Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers in AWS cloud environments (EC2 instances).
* Familiarity with Oracle databases from a system administration perspective.
* Experience with version control systems, specifically GitLab, and CI/CD practices.
* Strong scripting skills (Shell, Python, etc.).
* Knowledge of networking concepts and security best practices in cloud environments.
* Experience or familiarity with healthcare data management and compliance standards is a plus.
* Develop POC for migrating code base from WebLogic to JBoss, and ORACLE RDS to Postgres
* Hands on with Containerization
* Collaboration work with development teams to streamline the process.
QUALIFICATIONS: (Experience and Education)
* Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Systems, IT with 15+ years' experience, or equivalent in healthcare administration setting.
*Job Type & Location*This is a Contract position based out of Boston, MA.
*Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $64.29 - $64.29/hr.
