Shift Lead

Responsibilities The Shift Lead is responsible for performing the duties of a CSC and/or veterinary assistant/technician while ensuring continuity and operational support across all shifts. The Shift Lead will provide onsite leadership to support associates and clients, coordinate and guide paraprofessional staff, and support hospital leadership to maximize productivity and profitability. Key Responsibilities Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. Recruit new clients and promote hospital services. Manage client and pet flow to ensure superior client care and maximum productivity. Maximize the number of pets seen by the hospital team. Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional service at all times. Prepare and perform procedures that do not require veterinarian or technician assistance, and support surgical procedures as needed. Assist with incoming and outgoing client documentation and information processing. Handle financial tasks, including opening and closing procedures. Coordinate with veterinarians and technicians to ensure quality pet care and productivity. Maintain client records, ensure safety protocols and clean, sterile treatment areas. Support paraprofessional team training, scheduling, and performance. Leadership Responsibilities Assist the Practice Manager in developing an efficient, productive team and achieving operational priorities. Manage labor resources, adjust schedules, and supervise paraprofessional associates. Provide professional client service and resolve client issues. Maintain communication across associates, clients, hospital leadership, and Central Team Support. Ensure compliance with dress and grooming guidelines and prepped equipment. Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks and provide solutions. Support incident management, equipment maintenance, and inventory management. Elevate associate engagement and morale. Qualifications Associate’s degree or veterinary technician certification/licensure preferred. Two years of experience in a healthcare, veterinary, or service industry preferred; six months at Banfield preferred. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Strong communication, leadership, conflict management, and team motivation skills. Excellent organizational, problem‑solving, and multitasking abilities. Proficient with computers and specialized software. Ability to work 40+ hours, including weekends and evenings, and handle physically demanding tasks. Pay $22.82 - $29.16 per hour, based on experience, skill level, and education.
