Position Overview As a Public Safety Officer, you will help ensure a safe and welcoming environment so patients, families, and employees can focus on care, research, and education. Public Safety Officers are essential to maintaining security and supporting the mission of MD Anderson Cancer Center. Job Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. One year of relevant work experience. Valid Class A, B or C Texas driver’s license. Preferred: International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification. Must pass pre‑employment skills test. Responsibilities Provide information, directions, and assistance to patients, visitors, and staff. Patrol campus by vehicle and on foot to monitor for suspicious activity and safety hazards. Enforce institutional and parking regulations; issue permits and citations as needed. Serve as a Campus Security Authority in compliance with the Clery Act. Respond to emergencies and maintain calm, professional judgment under pressure. Support institutional policies and ensure a safe environment for all individuals on campus. Other Responsibilities This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
