Req #: 48703 Category: Laboratory Status: Part-Time Shift: Night Facility: RWJBarnabas Health Corporate Services Department: Lab CBMC Phlebotomist Pay Range: $20.75 - $24.55 per hour Location: 95 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ 07052 Job Title: Phlebotomist Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented, part‑time phlebotomist to join our Livingston team. In this versatile role, you will float across various pre‑analytical settings, including inpatient units, outpatient stations, and send‑out processing, while maintaining exceptional accuracy and patient care. This position also includes outreach assignments to support local nursing home locations. Qualifications Required: High school graduate or equivalent. Basic Life Support certification. Valid driver’s license and insurance for outreach phlebotomists. Preferred: 1 year of practical phlebotomy experience. Experience using effective venipuncture techniques. Completion of a recognized phlebotomy course in Phlebotomy and/or Medical Assistant or equivalent. Certification with an accredited agency such as the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians, Inc., and/or the National Phlebotomy Association. Scheduling Requirements Part‑time (25 hours per week). Must be able to work the night shift: 1 am to 6 am. Every other weekend is required. Essential Functions Assumes responsibility for receiving and determining the acceptability of all specimens received by the Department of Pathology. Prepares specimens according to designated protocol for each laboratory procedure and engages in computer activity for the Laboratory Information System and the Hospital Information System. Obtains blood, and non‑blood specimens from patients by venipuncture from the arm and/or micro collections from fingers or infant’s heel in a variety of collection tubes. Understands proper patient identification methods using two identifiers. Knowledge of legal requirements pertaining to drawing blood, handling specimen samples, and the use of relevant medical equipment. Knowledge of testing protocols and the use of testing equipment. Superb dexterity and hand‑eye coordination are important. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Performs additional tasks as requested by the Chairman of Pathology or his/her designee.
