Job Title Test Proctor Organization Piedmont Virginia Community College, Division: Student Affairs – Testing Center Position Details Type : Part‑time (maximum 29 hours per week), wage only, non‑exempt Pay : $16.87 per hour Location : Albemarle – 003, in‑person services for students at college and community locations. Work Schedule : Flexible hours up to 20 hours per week: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday–Thursday; 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; occasional Saturdays. Purpose Test Proctors maintain the confidentiality and security of all test materials, prevent academic dishonesty, and provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and community members. They assist students with special accommodations and technology and demonstrate professionalism under stressful conditions. Duties and Responsibilities Administer a variety of tests, both online and paper, including credit‑by‑exams, licensure and certification exams. Communicate with faculty and staff to ensure optimum testing conditions. Maintain the integrity of testing information and adhere to Testing Center guidelines and procedures. Handle day‑to‑day operations—answer calls, manage emails, and organize incoming materials—in a professional manner. Create a warm, welcoming yet vigilant environment to deter academic dishonesty. Attend mandatory training sessions as needed. Perform other duties as assigned, including assistance during emergencies. Required Qualifications Experience in customer‑facing roles with a record of accurately resolving customer concerns and receiving positive feedback. Consistent on‑time attendance, reliable task completion, and trusted access to sensitive information. References or reviews highlighting teamwork and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong verbal, non‑verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities under timed deadlines with minimal errors. Experience serving customers from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, or ability backgrounds. Previous experience in a testing center environment (preferred). Additional Considerations Previous experience in a testing center environment is preferred.
