General Laborer

The General Laborer supports production operations by consistently hanging metal parts onto a paint line, handling materials, and assisting with basic assembly tasks. This role involves repetitive, physically demanding work in a clean, temperature-controlled facility, ensuring products are processed, labeled, and recorded accurately according to customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Consistently hang metal parts onto the paint line in a safe and efficient manner.
• Lift, move, and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis, and heavier loads as required with proper technique.
• Follow work orders and instructions based on customer needs to ensure accurate processing of parts.
• Label parts and place stickers on conveyors and hampers according to established procedures.
• Accurately post production transactions using shop floor data collection devices.
• Utilize hand and power tools to assemble products when needed, following assembly instructions and safety guidelines.
• Read and interpret blueprints and basic mechanical drawings to support assembly and production activities.
• Inspect parts and assemblies for quality, identifying defects or issues and taking appropriate corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve basic production issues, escalating complex problems to the appropriate personnel when necessary.
• Perform repetitive and monotonous hanging of parts while maintaining focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Work overtime as needed to meet production demands and customer deadlines.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety and housekeeping standards.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations while performing job duties.

• Experience working in a labor-intensive environment, preferably in manufacturing, production, or construction.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand basic mechanical concepts and assembly processes.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently and handle heavier loads safely as required.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools for assembly and general labor tasks.
• Assembly experience, including working with mechanical components and following assembly instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints or basic mechanical drawings.
• Comfort with repetitive tasks such as hanging parts on a paint line while maintaining accuracy and quality.
• Basic inspection skills to identify defects or issues in parts and assemblies.
• Ability to accurately record production data using shop floor data collection devices.
• Willingness and ability to work overtime to meet production and customer needs.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow work orders and instructions precisely.
• Reliable work ethic and ability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.

• Experience in general labor roles within manufacturing, production, or construction settings.
• Familiarity with mechanical assembly processes and use of tape measures and other basic measuring tools.
• Comfort working with conveyors and material handling equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding production issues and progress.
• Willingness to learn new tools, processes, and systems as the company and technology evolve.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, well-lit, temperature-controlled production facility. Work is primarily performed while standing and walking, with frequent use of hands to finger, handle, or feel, and regular reaching with hands and arms. Communication is important, as talking and hearing are regularly required. The position occasionally involves climbing or balancing, as well as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds using proper lifting techniques and safety practices. The environment includes conveyors, paint lines, and the use of hand and power tools, with an emphasis on safety, cleanliness, and organization throughout the facility.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Port Clinton, OH.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
