Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred License: RN License in state of employment or compact Certifications: BLS certification from AHA required Must-Have: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred Description: The competent nurse practices independently in a clinical setting and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to work toward long-range goals or plans. Continuously develops the ability to cope with and manage contingencies in clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates tasks to other care providers to help manage the clinical situation. Meets the expectations of applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. Consistent with the nursing scope and standards of practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families according to their level of practice. Administers medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments. Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources.
