The Type Directors Club (TDC), a division of The One Club for Creativity, is a renowned organization dedicated to advancing typography and type design. Our mission is to celebrate, educate, and elevate the world of type and design through various events, competitions, and educational initiatives.

Job Description:

The TDC Associate reports to the Executive Director and assists with all aspects of the TDC events, and programs. This position is an administrative and project management role that collaborates with marketing and events teams to execute initiatives across the organization. The key mission of this role is to increase global recognition of TDC, working with the ED, stakeholders, and partners to ensure that programs and initiatives are executed successfully within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Executive Director (ED) in managing programs, including the TDC Annual Competition, exhibitions, scholarships, the Type Drives Culture conference, and membership events. Collaborate in meetings to adhere to track project timelines and communicate all project stages clearly to the ED and relevant team members, in a clear, easily understandable manner.
• Manage and archive documents (both manual and electronic) to track activities and costs, and to establish timelines, calendars, and cost calendars. This will require an ED-approved protocol. 
• Respond to inquiries from internal and external sources while coordinating with other departments (events, design, web, and social media) to gather and synchronize assets and content. 
• Schedule a variety of activities and meetings; collect, categorize, and summarize data for the Executive Director to facilitate decision-making and communication with stakeholders regarding procedures and program requirements. 
• Maintain member and community contacts, coordinate event calendars, and prepare content for TDC communications and outreach. Work closely with the events team to organize on-site and virtual TDC events, ensuring active engagement with members and the design community for feedback and participation. Able to present the information and maintain records. 
• Support the organization of content and resources related to scholarships, education, and the teaching community, adhering to timelines while fostering community engagement and archiving relevant data. 

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience with project management
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both online and in person.
• Familiarity with social media, online forums, and community management tools
• Computer savvy and comfortable with CRMs like Salesforce, Hubspot, and CMS platforms
• Strong project management and organizational abilities, and the ability to provide clear timelines and document progress. 
• Enthusiasm for connecting with people and a commitment to building a vibrant design community
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Self-starter with problem-solving skills, coupled with clear timelines, status updates, and thoughtful collaboration. 
• Able to work on-site from our New York office 2 days a week and evenings when TDC events are taking place
• Fiscal responsibilities, i.e., managing and staying on budget for events, etc., with the ability to present budget expenditures in a clear manner. 

Compensation

For this position, The One Club is prepared to offer the ideal candidate a salaried, non-exempt, full-time position of $55,000-$60,000

Work Environment

This is a hybrid position that requires all staff to be present at our New York headquarters in Hudson Yards on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the possibility of additional days to match potential workload.

We also offer milestone benefits, such as a 401(k) plan, with eligibility starting after 1 year, and a company share plan, with eligibility starting after 1 year, fully vested after 5 years.

Additionally, we offer 10 vacation days, 3 personal days, 11 paid holidays, 5 paid sick days, alternating summer Fridays, and an employee appreciation week the last week of December.
