Technical Accounting Consultant [Remote]

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Technical Accounting Consultant based in the United States.

This is a senior-level, short-term consulting opportunity focused on technical accounting and revenue recognition.
You will serve as a subject-matter expert on ASC 606, helping establish clear and scalable accounting policies.
The role involves analyzing complex revenue arrangements and translating technical conclusions into practical processes and controls.
You will independently lead projects from technical analysis through implementation and documentation.
The position offers close collaboration with accounting, finance, audit, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
Strong judgment, precise documentation, and the ability to operate independently are essential.
This is a remote engagement supporting Pacific Time hours in a fast-paced business environment.

Accountabilities

• Author, consolidate, and maintain authoritative technical accounting policies, with a primary focus on ASC 606 and revenue recognition.

• Analyze complex revenue arrangements and prepare well-supported technical accounting conclusions and documentation.

• Develop and formalize a B2B reserve policy covering credit risk, bad debt, and contractual allowances.

• Translate complex accounting requirements into scalable operational guidance, accounting processes, and internal controls.

• Partner with accounting, finance, audit, and other stakeholders to ensure technical policies can be implemented consistently and effectively.

• Independently manage technical accounting projects from initial research and analysis through implementation.

• Prepare clear, comprehensive documentation suitable for internal and external audit review.

• Provide technical accounting judgment and guidance on complex issues while maintaining alignment with applicable accounting requirements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience in technical accounting or a closely related accounting function.

• Deep expertise in ASC 606 / Revenue Recognition , including the analysis and documentation of complex revenue arrangements.

• Demonstrated experience developing, authoring, and implementing technical accounting policies.

• Strong ability to translate accounting requirements into practical, scalable operational processes and internal controls.

• Proven project leadership skills, with the ability to independently manage complex initiatives and deliver against deadlines.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to explain complex accounting concepts clearly.

• Experience collaborating effectively with accounting, finance, audit, and other cross-functional teams.

• Strong technical accounting judgment, attention to detail, analytical ability, and documentation skills.

• Big Four accounting experience is preferred.

• Experience supporting or managing external audits is preferred.

• Experience with B2B revenue models, credit risk, bad debt, and contractual allowances is preferred.

• Experience in complex, high-growth, or large-scale business environments is advantageous.

• Ability to work remotely while supporting Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Pacific Time .

Benefits

• $123/hour on W-2 , with the possibility of a higher rate for exceptional candidates.
