Job Title: Traveling Lead HVAC Installer

Job Description

This role seeks an experienced HVAC technician with 5–8 years of hands-on installation and service experience who is comfortable working independently and stepping into a lead role when needed. You will install and service commercial and residential HVAC split systems, handle heavy fan coil units, and troubleshoot refrigeration systems while supporting renovation projects in a dynamic construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Install and service commercial and residential HVAC split systems in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Rig, mount, and securely connect fan coil units, including units weighing up to 1,000 pounds, using appropriate tools and safety practices.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain refrigeration systems to ensure reliable performance and energy efficiency.
• Apply basic sheet metal skills to fabricate, modify, and install ductwork and related components as required for HVAC installations.
• Work independently on job sites, taking ownership of tasks and stepping into a lead role to guide and support other technicians when needed.
• Collaborate with other trades and construction teams to coordinate HVAC installation within broader renovation schedules and plans.
• Follow electrical best practices when working with HVAC equipment, ensuring proper wiring, connections, and safe operation.
• Adhere to OSHA safety standards and company safety protocols at all times, including proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective gear.
• Complete work within designated rotation schedules (typically Wednesday–Saturday or Monday–Thursday), meeting project deadlines and quality expectations.
• Document work performed, report issues promptly, and communicate clearly with supervisors and team members about project status and needs.

Essential Skills

• 5–8 years of experience as an HVAC technician performing installation and service work.
• Proven experience installing and servicing commercial and residential HVAC split systems.
• Demonstrated ability to rig, mount, and connect heavy fan coil units, including units up to 1,000 pounds.
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining refrigeration systems in a commercial environment.
• Basic knowledge of sheet metal work, including fabrication and installation of ductwork and related components.
• Hands-on HVAC installation experience in mechanical and construction settings.
• Background working with commercial HVAC systems and equipment.
• Understanding of air conditioning systems, split systems, and split units.
• Familiarity with electrical work related to HVAC equipment.
• Commitment to following OSHA safety guidelines on active job sites.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• EPA Certification (preferred).
• EPA Universal Certification (preferred).
• OSHA 10 certification (preferred).
• Electrical experience supporting HVAC installation and service (preferred).

Work Environment

You work both indoors and outdoors on a school renovation project, operating in an active construction environment with mechanical, HVAC, and related building trades. Typical rotations run Wednesday–Saturday with Sunday off, and some projects may follow a Monday–Thursday schedule, allowing you to return home Thursday before restarting the following Wednesday. The role involves handling commercial HVAC equipment, split systems, and fan coil units, and requires adherence to construction site safety practices and protocols.

This is a Contract position based out of Jefferson City, TN.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
